Game Highlights
|
The players pulled out all the stops for this one, sending several of their superstars to the mound, but even they could not cool the hot feet of their elders. Clancy lead the offense with a homer and a ground-rule double. One of the longest shots of the day came off the foot of Ralph Alicandro, literally, as his shoe sailed deep down the left field line. Defensively, Barbara Brammer was dominating in the first, but was pulled in the second when her pitches became too bouncy. Looking for fast balls and curves, the players could not handle Geri Dame's sinker, which she threw over and over. Calling on his legendary baseball savvy, Joe Rudgis positioned his chair perfectly in left to make a great catch in the 4th. But surely the defensive plays of the game were several great catches by the webmaster in center (hey, it's summer, cut me some slack, huh?). The game was called after 4 innings for watermelon and cake. Oh yes, the players. Most of their runs came off of cheap bunts. They better not quit their day jobs as ballplayers... Many thanks to the summer coaches for a great afternoon of food and fun! |
